You are not looking for “an excuse.” You are looking for understanding.

Many people come to us wondering whether they are overthinking things, imagining problems, or simply failing at tasks that seem easy for everyone else. A proper evaluation by a clinical psychologist does not reduce you to a label. It helps explain patterns, identify meaningful strengths, and clarify what support may help you thrive.

Maybe you’ve always felt different, struggled in ways other people did not seem to understand, or wondered whether autism, ADHD, or a learning difference could explain what you’ve experienced.

You may have learned to compensate, mask, or push through. You may have been told you were lazy, anxious, disorganized, too sensitive, or just “not living up to your potential.” But sometimes those struggles point to something more specific and more understandable.

A comprehensive assessment can provide clarity. It can help identify whether a diagnosis is appropriate, while also giving you understanding of how you learn, think, process information, and function in daily life.

Depending on your needs, testing may help clarify questions related to:
  • Autism
  • ADHD
  • Dyslexia
  • Dysgraphia
  • Dyscalculia
  • Executive functioning difficulties
  • Sensory abnormalities
  • Social Difficulties
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Trauma
  • Related emotional or behavioral concerns that may affect daily functioning

WHY SEEK TESTING?

Assessment can help you answer questions like:
  • Have I been missing signs of autism or ADHD for years?
  • Why do some things seem harder for me than they do for other people?
  • Why do I struggle with focus, organization, writing, reading, or school performance?
  • Why do social situations feel confusing, exhausting, or overwhelming?
  • Is there a reason I have always felt different?
  • What are my cognitive strengths, and how can I use them better?

Our assessment report provides:

Diagnostic clarity
Understand whether your experiences are consistent with autism, ADHD, a specific learning disability, or another pattern that deserves attention.

A full picture of strengths and weaknesses
Learn not only where you struggle, but also where you are strong. This can be essential for self-understanding, treatment planning, academic support, and confidence.

Personalized recommendations
Receive practical recommendations tailored to your unique profile, whether for school, college, work, treatment, or day-to-day functioning. Depending on diagnosis, we may also recommend specific accommodations at school or work.

A better path forward
Testing can help replace uncertainty and self-doubt with language, insight, and direction.

What does this look like?

1. Initial consultation
We begin with you meeting with a licensed psychologist using our HIPAA-secure telehealth platform to understand your concerns, history, and goals for the evaluation. We then schedule your in-person testing appointment at our office in Frisco, TX (online testing may be available in specific circumstances).

2. Customized testing
Your evaluation is tailored to your needs and may include measures related to cognition, academic skills, attention, executive functioning, autism-related traits, and emotional functioning. This is usually done in person, and takes 4-5 hours. It includes various types of tests and a brief interview, all with the same psychologist. We do our best to accommodate your needs and provide breaks, snacks, and beverages to make the testing process as comfortable as possible.

3. Interpretation
Results are carefully reviewed to understand patterns across areas of strength and difficulty. The psychologist you've worked with throughout the entire process assembles a written report that goes over everything about the assessment.

4. Feedback and next steps
You meet with your psychologist again several weeks after the testing appointment to receive a clear explanation of the findings, diagnostic conclusions if applicable, and recommendations for moving forward. You also get a copy of the written report.

Frequently asked questions

What can testing evaluate?
Testing can help clarify concerns related to autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dysgraphia, other learning differences, and related patterns in attention, executive functioning, and emotional functioning.

Is this only for autism testing?
No! While some clients come in specifically wondering about autism, the evaluation is broader and can identify or rule out other concerns as well.

Can I have other goals for assessment, like understanding why I have certain troubles or certain abilities?
Yes! Your psychologist will help you understand both strengths and weaknesses so the results are practical, informative, and personally meaningful. If you and your psychologist decided during your consultation to answer other questions you have about yourself, those will be in the report as well.

How are things different if I'm under 18?
You will need your parent or guardian to be present for your consultation online, and they will need to be in the testing room for at least the first 30 or so minutes of your assessment to provide informed consent. If you're between 13 and 16 years old, a parent or guardian will need be present in the waiting room for the entire testing appointment.

How much does this cost?
Cost of assessments with a psychologist can vary by the amount of time spent on testing and interpretation. We try and keep the cost as low as possible to provide a good value to you. A typical assessment can vary from $2,000-$2,500 depending on the type of assessment. Depending on the goals and questions you want answered by testing, your psychologist will be able to make a firm estimate during your consultation that would not change unless you decide to add additional tests or questions to be answered.

Do you take insurance?
Testing may or may not be covered by your insurance carrier due to a number of factors. We do not take insurance payments directly, but provide all the appropriate documentation for your insurance to reimburse you. This document will contain all the appropriate coding and descriptions for reimbursement if your plan covers out-of-network testing.

Who is this for?
These evaluations are designed for young adults and teens (13+)  who want a better understanding of how they think, learn, and function.

Who is this not for?
This type of evaluation is not appropriate for anyone who is younger than 13, or has a medical history involving head injury or cancer. Those individuals would be better served by another type of psychologist who specializes in meeting the needs of specific kinds of patients.
